France's CAC 40 rose 0.4 percent to 5,080.31 while the DAX in Germany dipped 0.4 percent to 11,044.17. Britain's FTSE 100 edged up 0.1 percent to 7,202.54. Wall Street was set for losses on the open. BERLIN --- Berlin's Tierpark zoo says its latest baby polar bear is "a perky, strong girl." Keepers and vets were able to separate the 11-week old bear from mother Tonja for the first time to conduct a medical checkup, during which they also determined the cub's sex. The zoo said Friday that the as yet unnamed bear weighs 8.5 kilograms and is 61 centimeters from head to tail. MANILA, Philippines --- About 30 families were left homeless after a fire struck a residential area in Paraaque City on Friday afternoon, the city fire department said. According to Fire Officer 1 Miyuki Tuto, 15 houses and more or less 30 families were affected in a blaze that hit Purok 7 Riverside, Brgy. Moonwalk in Paraaque City.
