Seamen Abandoned in the Raid of Istanbul Ship for Two Months Do Not Pay Wages – The Union

The crew of the Shipline ship, abandoned by the shipowner in the Istanbul raid, including Russian seamen, have not received a salary for two months.

This was announced on Friday by the chairman of the trade union committee of the Rostov city trade union organization “Azov-Don Trade Union Committee of the Seafarers” of the Russian Trade Union of Seafarers Leonid Glushak.

“Salary for two months is not paid. Now the issue is under the control of the Consulate General [RF in Istanbul], “he said.

According to the Azov-Don Territorial Organization of the Russian Sailors’ Union, the shipowner threw the crew of a motor ship flying the flag of Comoros, in the roadstead in the port of Istanbul, and does not contact either sailors or representatives of the trade union.

There are 12 people aboard the ship, nine of them are members of the Russian Sailors’ Union.

Salaries have not been received since June 3, the debt to them exceeds 36 thousand dollars
