Cabatuan drug bust nets former seaman, live-in partner

ILOILO City – Police arrested two people in an illegal drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Zone 5, Cabatuan, Iloilo.

Villagers Randy Arcos, 40, and live-in partner Karen Rusgal, 32, were detained at the municipal police station.

Chief Inspector Sullen Domingo, Cabatuan police chief, identified Arcos as a former seafarer.

On board the sport utility vehicle Mitsubishi Montero Sport, Arcos and Rusgal sold to an undercover officer a sachet of suspected shabu for P500 at around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, a police report stated.

Police further seized from the suspects 11 more plastic packs of the same substance. A .45 pistol was also recovered from Arcos.

Arcos and Rusgal face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

An additional charge for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act may be filed against Arcos./PN
