Several ports in the Visayas cancelled trips on Wednesday due to bad weather brought about by Tropical Depression “Samuel,” the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) has announced.

Marina said that ports of Banica wharf in Roxas City, Capiz suspended all vessel trips to Masbate.

The Iloilo fastcraft terminal in Iloilo City also suspended all vessel trips to Bacolod.

Meanwhile, Bredco port in Bacolod City suspended vessel trips to Iloilo and vice versa.

Marina said cloudy and gloomy weather were observed at the said ports which prompted port authorities to suspend trips.

Marina, however, said that no maritime accident was yet reported.

No untoward maritime incident was recorded by the agency.

At 9 a.m. Wednesday, “Samuel” made landfall over Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Moderate to heavy rains would be expected over Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, Aurora, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes.

Pagasa has advised fishermen and those with small sea craft in the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon not to venture out to sea under Signal No. 1. /muf
