Ro-ro cargo ship AL FAYROUZ issued distress signal in the afternoon Apr 8 in southern Red sea some 60 nm off Farasan island, Saudi Arabia. Signal was received via INMARSAT by MRCC France and redirected to MRCC Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Saudi’s Navy and CG were deployed in rescue operation, all 31 crew were evacuated without, reportedly any injures. No information on ship, fire extent, damages, present status. Latest AIS dated 1000 UTC Apr 8, ship adrift in vicinity 16 15N 041 04E. Judging from track, fire erupted shortly after 0030 UTC Apr 8. The ship was en route from Suez port to Djibouti.
