China Cosco Shipping’s 2011-built 14,000 teu containership CSCL Jupiter has delayed its sailing schedule as it needs repairs following a collision incident in Vietnam.

According to a notice Cosco sent to clients yesterday, CSCL Jupiter was hit by another ship when it was about to sail out of Cai Mep International Terminal near Ho Chi Minh City on August 22 and suffered hull damages. No injuries, cargo damage and pollution were reported in the incident.

The ship is expected to receive repair service at Cai Mep and the sailing schedule will be delayed for about a week. Cosco said it is making efforts to minimise the impact of the incident.

The vessel’s next destination is Port Klang in Malaysia, and latest AIS information shows the ship is still moored at Cai Mep.
