Two workers were killed and thirteen others were injured in an accident at a shipbreaking yard in Bangladesh.

The accident took place Saturday at the Ziri Subedar shipbreaking yard in Chattogram when a heavy cable collapsed, hitting several workers involved in the demolition of the former CSL VIRGINIA, according to the NGO Shipbreaking Platform. The injured were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The accident resulted in the yard being closed as an investigation got underway.

The CSL Virginia was sold for demolition earlier this year after it was t-boned by the Tunisian roll-on/roll-off ferry Ulysse in the Mediterranean Sea off Corsica last October. It was beached in Bangladesh in February.

So far in 2019, the NGO Shipbreaking Platform has counted 15 shipbreaker deaths at Chattogram in southeastern Bangladesh.
