A worker was injured while unloading cargo from a vessel in the Port of Wilmington Saturday.

Wilmington firefighters were dispatched at noon and found the worker in the ship, below deck by about 35 feet, Battalion Chief John Looney said.

The crew rescue team headed down to the patient and "packaged" him in a stokes basket.

They then used the crane on the ship to hoist the injured worked out of the vessel and lowered him over to the crew on the dock.

He was then moved from the basket to a stretcher, where he was taken to Wilmington Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

After nearly an hour and a half, the scene was placed under control.
