THE Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) is preparing for the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Member State Audit Scheme (Imsas) in October 2023.

Marina convened an inter-agency meeting as the maritime administration gets ready for the Imsas.

Precila Jara, head of the Imsas Secretariat and officer In charge (OIC) of overseas shipping service (OSS), said the Imsas Technical Working Group (TWG) reviewed the items in the Pre-Audit Questionnaire (PAQ) and Additional Pre-Audit Information (PAI), which need further enhancement. The TWG also reviewed the updates on the key performance indicators (KPI) of the maritime strategy.

The TWG likewise discussed the two-day workshop on July 3 to 4, 2023, for the finalization of the said mandatory documents, Imsas Council Resolution 3, the schedule of Imsas activities, and other Imsas-related documents.

The meeting was attended by the Imsas technical consultant, Engr. Jose Venancio Vero, and representatives from the Department of Transportation (DoTr), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Cebu Port Authority (CPA), National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), and National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (Namria).
