Father-of-five named as one of the missing seamen on board the British cargo ship that sunk off the coast of Germany yesterday morning.

Filipino Docenito Paler Jnr., from Tangub City, was named by friends as part of the four crew members who remain unaccounted for since the Isle-of-Man registered MV Verity collided with a larger freight ship and sank in the North Sea.

The four who are missing are believed to have been trapped inside the ship's hull.

His friend, James Arnold, told MailOnline today: 'We would like to know if he is still alive because he has five children, the youngest being a toddler.

'The sad thing is that before he went on board, his son told him to stay home and not go back to work.

'He is a close friend and we just want to know if he is still alive or trapped inside the ship.'
