X-Men ’97? You bet, I will watch it

Inquirer Breaking News - Thu, 02/22/2024 - 11:55
Things are about to change for the better for the fans of anything to do with Marvel because when X-Men '97 begins streaming on Disney+, this will be a chance for everyone who was too young during the early 90s to watch even a bit of what made the original X-Men the Animated Series iconic. But I have to watch the episodes first to make that conclusion accurate. Indeed, decades later, the animated series of the X-Men still has its impact on viewers for those who got to watch it when it fi...

WASHINGTON --- Alzheimer's quietly ravages the brain long before symptoms appear and now scientists have new clues about the dominolike sequence of those changes --- a potential window to one day intervene. A large study in China tracked middle-aged and older adults for 20 years, using regular brain scans, spinal taps and other tests. Compared to those who remained cognitively healthy, people who eventually developed the mind-robbing disease had higher levels of an Alzheimer's-linked protein in their spinal fluid 18 years prior to diagnosis, researchers reported Wednesday. Then every few years afterward, the study detected another so-called biomarker of brewing troubl...

Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler wins dismissal of sexual assault lawsuit

Inquirer Breaking News - Thu, 02/22/2024 - 10:47
NEW YORK ---A US judge on Wednesday dismissed a lawsuit accusing Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler of sexually assaulting a former teenage model twice in one day in Manhattan nearly 50 years ago. US District Judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan said Jeanne Bellino waited too long to sue the 75-year-old Tyler, who has "vehemently" denied her allegations, under a New York City law protecting victims of gender-motivated violence. The judge said Bellino did not qualify for a two-year window to pursue claims that would otherwise extend beyond statutes of limitations, because she did not allege that Tyler's conduct posed a "serious risk of physical injury." And in a ruling that could aff...

SEATTLE --- Photographer Matt McDonald had lived on Puget Sound for years, but had never seen a whale, so he was elated when he spotted a giant marine mammal just off Seattle's waterfront one evening. The next morning he saw on the news that the humpback whale had died in the collision he witnessed. "I still remember the moment of when they crossed paths and my heart just sinking like, 'Oh my God, the ferry just ran over the whale,'" he recalled of the 2019 encounter.
