Edduba widens lead over Tubban in initial Kalinga poll recount

BAGUIO CITY --- Former Kalinga Vice Governor James Edduba leads former Tabuk Mayor Ferdinand Tubban has increased after an initial recount in the pilot precincts in the ongoing election protest.   The motion filed by Edubba before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) showed that he recovered a net of seven votes, which is more than the required substantial recovery of 20 percent.   Aside from the seven votes, Edduba had a total of 20 claimed ballots, which is more than enough to offset the winning margin of Tubban. Late Kapampangan poet John Manalili remembered with tributes at his wake

Manalili, a former journalist and former director of the Bureau of Communication Services in Malacanang, died on Tuesday due to cardiac arrest. He was 67. Fellow Kapampangan poets Romeo Rodriguez, Francisco Guinto, Sergio Calayag, and Queen of Parnassus Euprocinia de la Pea delivered their eulogies during the wake. Fr. DOH: 311 close contacts of COVID-19 cases in PH complete home quarantine

MANILA, Philippines --- A total of 311 persons who have had close contacts with the country's three confirmed cases of the COVID-19 infection have completed their 14-day home quarantine and have not shown signs of infection. Dr. Maria Rosario Vergeire, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Health (DOH), said that as of Friday, 218 of the 277 contacts of the first two cases---the Chinese couple from Wuhan in China's Hubei province --- who have been interviewed by the DOH have completed the quarantine period.
