ĐÀ NẴNG — A crew member on the Liberian-flagged Maribor was rescued after suffering a stroke on the way from Singapore to China on Tuesday. He was treated at International VinMec Hospital in Đà Nẵng.
The Đà Nẵng-based Maritime Co-ordination and Rescue Centre No 2 confirmed that Eliseo Jr. Burton Estrabon, 62, was paralised on his left side after a stroke in the early morning.
A rescue ship and a team of doctors were sent to give first aid to the victim before carrying him to port of Đà Nẵng and to hospital at midnight on Tuesday.
It was the fourth rescue of a foreigner by the rescue service in the last two years.
In 2016, the centre also saved Wang Xiaogang, a Chinese seaman, off the coast of Quảng Ngãi Province after he suffered stomach pains on a cargo ship.
