General cargo ship HAGLAND CAPTAIN ran into trouble and is in need of assistance some 5 nm east of distressed VIKING SKY, Norway. The ship reportedly suffered mechanical failure or engine failure at around 1800 UTC Mar 23 and started to drift towards coast in severe storm. Helicopters reportedly sent to evacuate ship’s 9 crew.
VIKING SKY meanwhile, is desperately trying to reach calm waters to shelter from raging storm, she’s slowly moving in western direction at some 3-4 knots speed.
