Estonian freighter troubled in English Channel, anchored

General cargo ship BELLALAND suffered electrical failure in English Channel in the afternoon Apr 13 west of Calais, while en route from Spain to Sweden. MRCC Gris-Nez was alerted by Traffic Control and ordered the ship to anchor at Calais outer anchorage, sending SAR ship to escort BELLALAND to anchorage. BELLALAND anchored in the morning Apr 14, reaching anchorage by own means – it was found, that ship though under way, couldn’t gather speed exceeding 3 knots, bacuase of faulty fuel injection pump. The ship according to MRCC Gris-Nez, is awaiting spare parts to be delivered on Apr 15.
