Philippine ro-ro vessel catches fire

According to Philippine Coast Guard, a Phillippine ro-ro vessel caught fire while it was docked and under repair at FF Cruz Wharf, Mandaue City, Cebu around 4 a.m. local time on June 10. One crew member sustained a minor injury.
Specifically, the fire, allegedly, started at the galley air blower; Yet, the authorities still investigate the causes of the fire.
In light of the incident, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine Coast Guard personnel responded to the fire incident onboard the 11,457 GT MV Trans Asia 1.
Following, BRP Suluan, along with search operation unit-central Visayas, marine environmental protection unit and Coast Guard Sub-Station Mandaue personnel proceeded to the area for the assessment and inspection of a possible oil spill and to render firefighting.
The fire was extinguished at around 7 p.m. at the same day. Also, the Philippine authorities added that there was no oil spill reported.
Built in 1980, the 4,800 dwt Trans Asia 1 is operated by Trans Asia Shipping.
