Bulk carrier HC JANA ROSA issued distress signal on Nov 6, reporting Captain suffering severe intestinal catarrh, in need of immediate medevac, in Red sea, near Hodeidah Port, Yemen. MRCC Cyprus retranslated message to MRCC Jeddah, Saudi Arabian Navy and CG asked the ship to proceed to Saudi waters, where she was met by Saudi Navy and CG ships and helicopter. 52-year old Captain of Ukrainian nationality was transferred to hospital, his condition described as “stable”. Bulk carrier meanwhile, sailed back to Hodeidah and as of evening Nov 7, cruising in legs off Hodeidah, her port of destination.
