Maersk chief warns that EU's antitrust policy 'benefits China and the US'

Soren Skou, head of Maersk, has stuck his neck out, and warned the European Commission that its competition rules prevent the region from competing with the US and China. “Is it really a good idea that we don’t allow the creation of a European global champion?” he told Danish media. Mr Skou is a member of the European Round Table for Industry (ERT), a lobby group of 55 leaders of large European companies. It has urged the EU to develop a new industrial strategy to enhance the global competitiveness of European companies. He added that competition policy should “allow us to build the right European companies that can compete globally”.

It makes one wonder who Maersk has its eye on?
