Coronavirus: Australia relaxes seafarer service rules

Australia will allow shipowners to extend seafarer tours of duty beyond the 11-month ceiling set down in the Maritime Labour Convention where the coronavirus makes this necessary, the Australian Maritime Safety Agency announces

‘We will consider requests from shipowners and operators for individual cases where foreign seafarer repatriation and service periods have been impacted by travel restrictions and quarantine measures,’ AMSA statement says
