he West Taurus platform bobbed and skated clumsily in the Port of Tenerife yesterday due to high winds.

The Panamanian rig is currently status registered as ‘laid up’.

According to report, the weather caused the platform to break down and hit ‘Spica’ blocking an important water route.

The ability for the weather to move the heavy platform is evidence of the strength of the storms to have hit Europe over the last three days.

The platform had to be hemmed in by the container ship to stop its escape.
