The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) announced Tuesday night the suspension of all maritime trainings of maritime training institutions (MTIs) in Metro Manila due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak.

Their announcement read as follows:

“This is in view of Presidential Proclamation 922 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to protect our seafarers and MTI personnel.

“Consequently, ongoing conduct of maritime training courses that are affected by the suspension under this Advisory shall be continued and completed after March 14, 2020 according to the new schedule arranged by the maritime training institutions concerned.

“MTIs and manning agencies are hereby enjoined to assist the affected seafarers considering these developments in our country.”
