The remains of the Filipino seafarer, one of the crew members onboard a missing Panama-registered cargo ship, is set to arrive in the country Thursday.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) on Wednesday announced the homecoming of crew member Joel Canete Linao from Tokyo, Japan.
The remains of the crew member will arrive at 5 pm via PAL Flight No. PR 427.
“Domestic transfer for General Santos to be arranged by KorPil,” said DoLE.
Gulf Livestock, which sank off the coast of Japan earlier this month, was carrying cattles and 43 crew members, including 39 Filipino nationals.
Three Filipino crewmen were later found, one dead and two survivors.
The two survivors Jaynel Rosales and Eduardo Sareno are set to arrive in the country on Saturday.
The DoLE said the government is extending all necessary assistance to the survivors and the families of the missing Filipino crew members of the ill-fated cargo ship.
