The two Filipino seafarers who survived the sinking of a cargo ship, Gulf Livestock 1, which sank near the coast of Japan earlier this month, will be arriving home this Saturday.

On Wednesday, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced the arrival date of Jaynel Rosales and Eduardo Sareno.

Citing the report from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Osaka, Japan, Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III said both seafarers are scheduled to fly from the Narita aiport to Manila on Sat. via flight PR 427.

Both seafarers will be getting assistance from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) upon their arrival.

Rosales and Sareno are currently the only rescued Filipino crew of Gulf Livestock 1.

The cargo ship had 39 Filipino crew. Of the said seafarers, one, Joel Canete Linao, was confirmed to have died, when Gulf Livestock 1 sunk during a storm on Sept. 3, 2020.

Linao’s remains is schedule to arrive in the afternoon of Sept. 17, 2020.

The 36 other Filipino sailors are still missing.
