Marina hosts 2020 National Maritime Week

The Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) spearheaded this year’s National Maritime Week in celebration of the milestones that the multi-sectoral industry has accomplished for the past year.

Adopting the World Maritime Day 2020 theme of “Sustainable Shipping for a Sustainable Planet”, Marina Administrator Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad stated that the Philippines reflects the United Nation’s (UN) and International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) sustainable goals through the Maritime Industry Development Plan ( MIDP) which is now on its second year of implementation.

“This is aligned with UN’s goal of promoting economic growth through employment opportunities and decent work, inclusive and sustainable industrialization, fostering innovation, and conservation in the sustainable use of oceans and resources,” he said.
