JAKARTA, April 1 (Xinhua) -- The search and rescue operation for three missing people continued on Sunday amid efforts to clean up leaked oil after an oil tanker caught fire in waters off central Indonesia, an official said.

Personnel from navy, water police, search and rescue office, and disaster management agency combed the waters off Balikpapan Gulf, said Muriyono, head of the operational unit at the provincial disaster management agency.

Two bodies were retrieved after the ship loaded with diesel fuel caught fire on Saturday, he confirmed.

The official said that oil had leaked into the waters and personnel from the state-owned PT. Pertamina were attempting to contain the leaking.

"The tanker ship was loaded with diesel fuel, which has leaked into the waters. Now, the personnel from Pertamina are trying to neutralize the risks," Muriyono told Xinhua.
