An oil tanker and dry bulk ship collided in waters off Cavite City, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Thursday.
PCG personnel have responded to the collision of Japanese-owned tanker Rich Rainbow and Ivy Shipping’s bulk carrier Ivy Alliance three nautical miles away from Cavite, said spokesperson Commodore Armand Balilo.
According to Balilo, Coast Guard Station Cavite received a phone call around 9.50 hrs on Wednesday regarding the incident and deployed its response team.
Thai-flagged Rich Rainbow was loaded with gasoline, while Ivy Alliance, sailing under the flag of Marshall Islands, was loaded with coal, the PCG said.
PCG said that no crew was injured or oil leaked into the waters caused by the accident.
Fuyo Kaiun, the manager of the 2021-built 49,999 dwt Rich Rainbow said the vessel came in contact with Ivy Shipping-owned 55,900 dwt bulker in Manila Bay at approximately 21.14 hrs local time on Apr 7, 2021.
It is said that the Rich Rainbow sustained hull damage above the water line and remains in a stable condition, with full assessment to be carried out by Class and the manager in cooperation with PCG.
