The Philippine Coast Guard says are still 7 missing crewmembers of the LCT Cebu Great Ocean that ran aground in Surigao del Norte on April 19
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Saturday, April 24, that it has recovered two more bodies of crewmembers of a cargo ship that ran aground in Surigao del Norte on April 19.
The PCG in Surigao del Norte identified the fatalities as LCT Cebu Great Ocean crewmembers Klint Auxtero and Limuel Dadivas, both recovered in waters off San Francisco town on Friday, April 23.
Seven crewmembers are still missing. The search was called off late Friday afternoon due to bad weather, the Coast Guard said.
The latest report brings to six the number of crewmembers who died following the incident. The remains of the other four were recovered on Wednesday, April 21.
Seven crewmembers were rescued.
The cargo vessel was taking shelter from rough seas off Jabonga, Agusan del Sur, on April 19, when its anchor reportedly broke causing it to drift until it ran aground, according to Coast Guard officials. The weather had been rough in the area due to Typhoon Bising (Surigae). – Rappler.com
