DFA: Filipinos repatriated amid pandemic now over 401,000

MANILA, Philippines — More than 401,000 Filipinos abroad have been repatriated amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Thursday.
During the meeting of the House committee on overseas workers affairs, the DFA reported that 401,244 overseas Filipinos have been repatriated as of May 24. They came from more than 90 countries and 150 cruise ships and vessels.
Of the repatriates, 105,488 are sea-based overseas Filipinos while 295,756 are land-based.
DFA said more than 2,147 commercial flights have been used to repatriate the Filipinos abroad.
Of the more than 401,000 repatriated Filipinos, 327,511 were repatriated in 2020. Majority of them (69.89 percent) were from Middle East, followed by Asia and the Pacific (11.26 percent), Americas (9.45 percent), Europe (883 percent), and Africa (0.57 percent).
