The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) conducted a medical evacuation for an ailing Filipino seafarer in Maasim, Sarangani on Thursday, July 15
The PCG Substation Maasim received a phone call from PCG Station Soccsksargen that John Stephen Calubio, a 24-year-old third mate of LCT Southern Treasure, experienced vomiting and vertigo while on duty at sea.
In cooperation with Maasim Bantay Dagat on board a patrol boat from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Calubio was transported to the hospital for medical assistance.
The PCG, citing the attending physician, said Calubio experienced dehydration caused by electrolytes imbalance.
As of Friday morning, July 16, the PCG said Calubio was already recovering at the hospital.
