THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has granted the honorary rank of auxiliary commodore to Marino party-list representatives Sandro Gonzalez and Macnell Lusotan as new members of the PCG Auxiliary Executive Squadron on Thursday.

"We witnessed how the Philippine Coast Guard heightened its efforts in performing its duties to ensure the country's maritime security and the protection of our marine environment amid the pandemic," said first nominee Gonzalez.

"As vanguards of our Filipino seafarers in Congress, we are truly honored to receive this honor, and we commit to performing our duties and responsibilities to the best of our efforts," Gonzalez added.

The PCG confers honorary titles on men and women whose positions and influence in society would help the PCG fulfill its mission.

"The exemplary performance of PCG over the years is an embodiment of its dedication to its mission and vision," said second nominee Lusotan.

"These uniformed men and women are our true heroes because, despite the risks of their work, they continue to answer the call of those who are in need," he added.

The new auxiliary commodores of the squadron were arrayed and sworn in by Vice Admiral Leopoldo Laroya.
