Passenger ship sank in Singapore waters, some 100 people missing

An unidentified passenger ship with 106 people on board, including 102 passengers and 4 crew, sank at around 0253 ICT Apr 19 in waters of Pedra Branca island – small Singaporean island at Singapore Strait eastern entrance (Lighthouse Horsburgh), reportedly after sustaining heavy damages. As of 1300 ITC, 4 people said to be rescued, the rest are still missing. The ship was ferrying people from Bandar Penawar, Johor, Malaysia, to Bintan, Riau Islands, Indonesia, i.e. she was crossing Singapore Strait in its’ most wide part. CG and SAR forces of all involved States, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, are involved in full-scale SAR.

Passengers mostly are Indonesians working in Malaysia, returning home.
According to latest updates, the ship in question was a wooden coastal boat, local type.
