NYK has decided to donate 6.5 million yen through the NYK-TDG Friendship Foundation, Inc.* to help the Philippines recover from the devastation caused by Typhoon Rai, which hit the country over December 16 and 17. In addition, the NYK Group will also start to collect donations from NYK Group executives and employees.

In the Philippines, NYK runs the NYK-TDG Maritime Academy** with the Transnational Diversified Group*** and is thus positively involved in fostering and recruiting Philippine seafarers.

NYK has deep concern for those harmed by this natural disaster and offers its wishes for a quick recovery.

* NYK-TDG Friendship Foundation, Inc.
Established in 1990 by NYK together with Jose Roberto Delgado, CEO of the Transnational Diversified Group (TDG), the foundation provides food, shelter, health care, education, etc. for street children in the Philippines.

** NYK-TDG Maritime Academy (NTMA)
Establishment: June 3, 2007
Location: Canlubang, Calamba City (a suburban city about a one-hour drive from Manila)
Mission: To foster global seafarers through higher education by focusing on building an individual's sense of humanity and providing training in practical maritime technologies.
