CEBU CITY, Cebu, Philippines — A passenger vessel docked at the Consuelo Port in Camotes Island in Cebu province submerged while it was docked at the pier past 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 10.

Capt. Alvin Dagalea, station commander of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Cebu Station, said MV Mika Mari 1 of Jomalia Shipping Lines sank due to big waves and strong winds brought by Tropical Storm Agaton.

There were no passengers on board the vessel when the incident happened. All 14 crew members managed to abandon the ship before it went down.

PCG officers are now in Consuelo Port to assess the situation.

Based on reports, the vessel has more or less 5,430 liters diesel fuel and 68 liters of lube oil.

Risk of oil spill was still being determined by the responding Coast Guard personnel.
