DPWH-Tacloban accomplishes training pool construction for Maritime trainees

TACLOBAN CITY -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO) has completed the construction of a training pool with a diving board on April 21, 2022 for the trainees enrolled in various National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) training courses and specialization programs.
The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) is the principal government agency that is accountable for honing, developing, and upgrading the capabilities of the country's maritime allied workforce, accomplished through supporting high-quality training, evaluation, and research that is responsive to the requirements of the maritime industry.
DPWH-TCDEO initiated the construction of a 10m x 20m training pool with a diving board, a maximum depth of 3.4 meters, and a minimum depth of 1.2 meters, with a total contract amount of 19.6-million funded by the 2021 General Appropriations Act, to satisfy the need for complete and quality training facilities that would cater to the training and educational needs of the maritime trainees.
In addition, compliant with the ISO 9000:1994 standards by the Anglo Japanese American (AJA) Registrars Inc., the National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) has worked consistently to gain ISO certifications in conformance with the most recent standards to assure the delivery of superior training and assessment services.
