Ferry Strike to Hit Greece on Friday

Travelers making ferry journeys in Greece on Friday are being advised to check their plans as a 24-hour strike looms.
The Pan-Hellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) has called the industrial action over what it calls “cuts and regulations of the third memorandum as a result of the bailout requirements”.
It will see all ferries in Greece docked for 24 hours.
The PNO members are also unhappy about pension cuts, the increase in unemployment, the use of uninsured labor and the running of the seamen’s social security fund, or NAT.
Greek lawmakers are currently reviewing a huge raft of proposed economic reforms ahead of a third review of the country’s bailout program.
According to the PNO, further strike action might be taken if their demands are not met.
All travelers due to depart or who hold booked ferry tickets are advised to get in touch with their travel agents or contact local port authorities for further information.
