A SEAMAN died after he was shot while attending a dance in Sitio Villa San Pedro, Barangay Tulay in the southern town of Minglanilla, Cebu, on Saturday, January 21, 2023.

The victim was identified as 25-year-old Newlbert Ontua Cadavid, a native of San Francisco town, Agusan del Sur.

Cadavid was an apprentice at mv Poseidon 45 that is currently docked in Barangay Tulay.

According to Major Arieza Otida, chief of the Minglanilla Police Station, the incident took place around 3 a.m.

She said Gary Franza Larosa, a 43-year-old resident of Purok Bacoy in the same barangay, was also injured during the shooting.

Based on their initial investigation, the suspect shot the victim several times after the latter allegedly brushed against him while they were dancing.

Otida said they are withholding the suspect’s name while they conduct a manhunt operation against him.

She said the gunman had a previous case for beating his ex-wife. (BBT)
