Propelme honors Filipino seafarers with entertainment, seminars

FILIPINO seafarers in Manila are in for a treat as propelme, a maritime social network that serves as a one-stop shop for maritime professionals, is set to host a Seafarer Fiesta on June 24 at the Sunset Pavilion in Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.

The Seafarer Fiesta aims to highlight and reward the excellent services that seafarers provide for their families and the country.

It will be conducted in time with the International Day of the Seafarer which is set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on June 25 of each year.

The event starts at 2 p.m. and will feature entertaining and educational programs such as resume and job interview workshops, live music, friendly competitions, and presentations by famous Filipino seafarers, kumu influencers, and one celebrity special guest.

"The Propelme Seafarer Fiesta is a fun and informative celebration for seafarers and their families as we recognize their commitment to such a fantastic career," said Carl King, global head of marketing of propelme.

The event is sponsored by local business and shipping companies including the Filipino video-sharing and e-commerce social network kumu, Standard Insurance, and Det Norsk Veritas (DNV), a quality assurance and risk management company.

Admission is free for the first 2,000 seafarers and their families who will register on a first-come-first-served basis. Attendees must be active seafarers who have downloaded the Free propelme application from Google Play or Apple Store.

As the venue capacity is limited, only the first 2,000 individuals who have successfully registered will be guaranteed entry.
