THE Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) refined plans and programs through active collaboration with maritime sector stakeholders during the National Validation Workshop for the Maritime Industry Development Plan (MIDP) 2028.

The workshop on Thursday, July 13, emphasized the collaborative nature of the event, with government agencies, private sector entities, and other stakeholders actively participating. Marina aims to drive the growth and development of the maritime sector by leveraging the insights and expertise generated from the workshop.

The participants proposed additional projects and focused on formulating a comprehensive legislative agenda to be advocated in Congress.

Marina is dedicated to implementing robust strategies and initiatives to strengthen the country's maritime industry. The continued collaboration and concerted efforts will lead the Philippines to become a leading maritime nation, fostering economic prosperity and establishing a sustainable and thriving maritime sector.

The MIDP 2028 is set to be submitted and presented before President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who has shown commitment to prioritize the maritime industry, during the Philippine Maritime Industry Summit 2023.

Marina Administrator Hernani Fabia emphasized the maritime industry's multifaceted contribution to the nation's aspirations, including linking island economies, fostering national integration, ensuring safety and security in maritime transport, providing professional seafarers, and stimulating global competitiveness.
