THE Gregorio Oca Leadership and Development Foundation (GOLD), in partnership with the International Transport Workers Federation ( ITF ) Seafarers' Trust and the Associated Marine Officers and Seamens Union of the Philippines (Amosup), launched the Women Championing Seafarer Families (WCSF) program on February 24 in Manila.

The program launch highlighted women's vital role in seafarer families, drawing key figures from the community for an engaging event. Sen. Loren Legarda's message and the shared stories illuminated the unique challenges faced by these families, emphasizing the WCSF's mission to provide support and community building.

It also emphasized collaboration among stakeholders to build a support system for seafarer families, with 15 pioneering women leaders dedicated to the cause being introduced and receiving leadership training to serve their communities better.

Attendees left with a renewed commitment to the cause and actionable insights into contributing to the welfare of the maritime community. This initiative reinforces the value of collective action and focuses on empowering women within the industry as catalysts for change within their communities.

With the successful launch of WCSF, the GOLD Foundation and its partners are more motivated than ever to continue their work in empowering seafarer families. The initiative is set to roll out a series of training and workshop programs and services to provide comprehensive support to the women behind our seafarers.
