Container ship THESEUS suffered containers collapse and loss in Gulf of Aden, while en route from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Colombo, Sri Lanka, being caught in cyclone which ravaged northwest Indian ocean.
Most probably, containers collapse and loss occurred around May 19, on May 26 numerous containers were spotted drifting off Salalah, Oman. Container ship arrived at Colombo on May 22 and was handled by Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) in just 36 hours, quite a feat, considering the mess there was.
THESEUS left Colombo on May 24, bound for next port of call Singapore. The ship is engaged on Mediterranean Service 2, as of June 3 she was steaming in East China sea, approaching Qingdao.
Number of lost and damaged containers unknown.
