The Norwegian Maritime Authority and the Maritime Industry Authority signed a memorandum of agreement to recognize seafarers' certificates, paving the way for the employment of 25,000 additional Filipino seafarers on Norwegian -flagged ships.Ambassador Enrico Fos facilitated the signing ceremony on May 13, 2024.

Ambassador Fos is confident that with the agreement, there is an expected increase of 25,000 seafarers to be employed onboard Norwegian-flagged ships.The agreement fosters mutual interests and adherence to the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping Convention, emphasizing compliance with national laws, conditions for recognition and technical cooperation.The agreement includes monitoring, training, assessment processes and periodic inspections of approved facilities.
