MANILA, Philippines — A search operation will be conducted to find the remaining missing Filipino seafarer aboard the MV Tutor, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Cacdac said on Saturday.

According to Cacdac, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has ordered to find the seafarer, who was in the engine room when the vessel that was travelling the Red Sea was attacked by Houthi rebels on June 12.

“And having said that, ‘yung utos ng ating Pangulo na hanapin ‘yung nag-iisang seafarer onboard the MV Tutor,” Cacdac said in a news forum.

(And having said that, it is the order of our president to find the remaining seafarer onboard the MV Tutor.)

“Mayroon isang natitira, siya ay nandudoon sa engine room noong panahon na nag-attack iyong drones at iyong missiles at nabaha ‘no – the ship took in water doon mismo sa engine room where he was located. So, we are still searching for him,” he added.

(There is one remaining, he was in the engine room when the drones and missiles attacked, and the ship took in water in the engine room. So, we are still searching for him.)

The 21 other Filipino crew members of the vessel were rescued and will be brought to Bahrain, Cacdac added.
