According to the Swedish Maritime Administration, the crew of the vessel sent out a Mayday call, and Danish rescue teams immediately launched an operation. The Swedish Maritime Administration’s helicopter was the first to arrive on the scene and successfully hoisted the crew to safety.
The alarm was raised at 9:20 PM from the ship, which was en route from Poland to Karlshamn, Sweden. Due to Bornholm’s proximity to Sweden, Swedish and Danish teams coordinated efforts, with a helicopter based in Kristianstad immediately dispatched to the location.
Upon arrival, it was clear that the fire was concentrated in the bow of the ship, and the crew needed urgent rescue. The Swedish Maritime Administration’s helicopter hoisted all crew members from the vessel and flew them to safety.
Emma Nykvist, the rescue leader, commented, “We’re relieved that the operation went smoothly and quickly, and that all crew members are unharmed.”
As informed, the operation was successfully carried out without any injuries to the crew.
