A SEA vessel, MV Lady of Good Fortune, struck a stationary ship near Pier 3 in Cebu City after experiencing engine failure in the early hours of Saturday morning, July 26, 2025.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m. when the mv Lady of Good Fortune was reportedly attempting to dock near Pier 3.

According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Central Visayas, the vessel suffered engine failure, rendering it dead in the water. Without power, the vessel was swept by the sea current and drifted toward a nearby watercraft.

The mv Lady of Good Fortune subsequently made contact with the mv Starcraft 7, which was stationary at the time of the incident.

β€œAt around 4 a.m., mv Lady of Good Fortune was about to dock near Pier 3 when it experienced engine failure (dead on water). Due to the current, it drifted and made contact with mv Starcraft 7,” according to PCG 7.

The PCG confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The mv Lady of Good Fortune is a passenger and roll-on-roll-off (roro) cargo vessel built in 2024. Measuring 76 meters in length with a 15-meter beam, the one-year-old ship sails under the flag of Sierra Leone.

Authorities have not yet released information about the extent of the damage to either vessel.

As of press time, the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) 7, the regional maritime regulatory agency, had not issued a statement. SunStar also reached out to Marina 7 for further details on the development, but officials were unavailable.

Pier 3 is one of the most active docking points in Cebu City, frequented by roro vessels and fastcrafts servicing routes to and from neighboring provinces such as Bohol, Leyte and Negros Oriental. / DPC
