Tanker crew member says ship came silently out of patchy fog before deadly North Sea collision
A crew member of an anchored tanker told of his horror at seeing a container ship heading straight at him while he was 40 feet up a mast, changing light bulbs.
Steven Fonti was carrying out maintenance duties when he glanced over his shoulder to see the 804-teu Solong (built 2005) emerging from patchy fog on a direct collision course, a court heard on Friday.
