Americans say Marivex was violating blockade of Iran

A seafarer’s union has lashed out at the US over an airstrike on a sanctioned tanker accused of attempting to run the blockade of Iran.

The Forward Seamen’s Union of India accused US forces of trying to destroy the 12,800-dwt product carrier Marivex (built 2009) off the coast of Oman on Monday.

US Central Command, which is enforcing the maritime blockade of Iran, said a fighter plane fired a precision munition into the ship after its crew refused to comply with orders.
