A container ship is currently adrift off the B.C. coast after an engine fire.

The MOL Prestige, which is 293 metres long, is adrift approximately 207 nautical miles off Haida Gwaii.

There are 23 people on board and five have been injured.

The Moldovan dry cargo ship has been damaged to the hull in the Black Sea near the Crimea, according to RIA Novosti.

"The cargo ship" Berg with a crew of 12 people has been damaged, the source said.

It added that the dry cargo ship was sailing under the Moldovan flag.

The workers have been waiting for £714,000 in unpaid wages for almost two years.

The crew spent 18 months stuck in the city's port after the ship's former owner was liquidated.
