Reports from French Polynesia say a 132-metre long cargo ship has run onto the reef of Raroia atoll in the Tuamotus.

The Philippines-registered ship had reportedly at least nine people on board.

The alarm was raised by the mayor of Raroia, prompting French authorities to send aircraft for an initial asseessment.

Rome (CNN)A search-and-rescue ship stranded in the Mediterranean since Friday with 233 migrants on board will finally dock in Malta, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said.
Conte said he had reached an agreement to allow the Lifeline to dock after speaking on the phone with Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat. Malta is a small island nation south of Sicily.
