7 suspects nabbed in Taguig buy-bust, P2.9-M worth of crystal meth seized

MANILA, Philippines --- Police officers and drug enforcement agents arrested seven drug suspects in a buy-bust operation in Taguig City on Monday night and confiscated over P2.9 million worth of crystal meth, locally known as shabu. A report from the Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspects as Saner Guipal, Mohammad Adjaluddin, Butch Oyo, Arapat Samama, Hans Joseph Casiano, Johanna Usman, and Rashid Biri. The report tagged the suspects as "street-level targets." NTC says ARTA has no jurisdiction over its quasi-judicial functions

MANILA, Philippines --- The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) said the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) has no jurisdiction over its "quasi-judicial functions" after the ARTA asked NTC to act on the certificate of public convenience of News and Entertainment Network Corp. (Newsnet). "Radio frequency assignment, subject to treaty obligations, is also exempt from ARTA's coverage," NTC said in a statement, adding that it granted a provisional authority to Newsnet on Jan. 27 to use frequencies 26.35-27.35 GHz.
