  MANILA, Philippines --- A magnitude 4.4 earthquake rattled Sarangani, Davao Occidental on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said. The earthquake struck at 1:03 p.m. and its epicenter was traced at 153 kilometers southwest of Sarangani. Phivolcs said that the tremor was of tectonic origin, and had a 313-kilometer depth of focus. BUFFALO, New York --- Lt. Thomas J.E. Crotty's capture during World War II made him the first Coast Guard prisoner of war since the War of 1812. With his burial in his hometown of Buffalo this weekend, he may end up being the last of the Coast Guard's missing service members to be repatriated, a Coast Guard historian said. That's because most missing Coast Guard casualties are lost at sea, but Crotty "was lost on land, and as a result of that he will be coming home," William Thiesen, Atlantic area historian, said. Police to implement ‘stop-and-go’ traffic scheme during bar exams

MANILA, Philippines -- As 8,245 aspiring lawyers are set to take this year's Bar examinations, the Manila Police District (MPD) will implement a "stop-and-go" traffic scheme near the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Espaa, Manila during the exam days. The MPD's Traffic Enforcement Unit said Saturday that the "stop-and-go" traffic policy will be in effect on Nov. 3, 10 and 17. The traffic scheme will be implemented during drop-off of bar takers from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and pick-up time from 5 p.m. onwards. Affected streets are P. Noval Street, Dapitan Street, A.H.
